Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere from Michael’s Consignment! Today we want to celebrate motherhood by featuring Madison Rae, a fashion and lifestyle blogger and now mother to her daughter Everly. She kills it as a new mom, rescue dog-mom, and New York City fashionista every day! Read on below to hear her perspective on motherhood and fashion.

Michael’s: How has motherhood impacted your style?

Madison Rae: I've always been a jeans and tee girl for as long as I can remember, which is great for Mama life. The only thing that has really changed are the shoes. The days of super high heels are behind me, for now at least.

Mi: Investment piece in your closet that you would pass down to your daughter?

MR: I am saving A LOT for her, but I think what I am most excited about would be my Chanel Jumbo Flap in Black Caviar. It's a timeless piece that will be around forever. It was also my first Chanel bag that I bought while in Paris at the original Chanel store on Rue Cambon.

Mi: Who’s your style icon?

MR: Forever changing. Currently really into Nasiba Adilova (@naseebs) She is the chicest mom I have ever seen, decked out in Chanel and that to me is just total goals.

Mi: What’s your go-to power outfit?

MR: I love a beautiful feminine dress, with a good blow out.

Mi: Favorite fashion designers?

MR: Chanel for shoes and bags. Really into Love Shack Fancy and Zimmermann.  For more casual looks I love Agolde and Re/Done.

Mi: What about being a mom did you learn from your mom?

MR: Unconditional love.  Even through all of our differences I always knew that she loved me the most in the world.

Mi: Most rewarding and hardest parts of motherhood?

MR: Most Rewarding is seeing her growing up into this little, amazing human. I always stare and her and say to my husband in disbelief, "We created her."

Hardest part is just adjusting to your new life. One second you have all the freedom in the world and your biggest concern on weekends is where you want to have brunch.  Add a baby to the picture and you are thankful if you can get through a brunch without one of you having to walk around the restaurant with a fussy baby. With time comes confidence, so 10 months in and I can happily say it's gotten so much easier!

Mi: You’re also a doggy mom - tell us about your pups!

MR: I am a huge supporter of rescuing.  There are thousands of AMAZING dogs dying in shelters every day, so I made the conscious decision over 10 years ago that adopting is the only choice.  All 3 of my dogs are rescues, and over the age of 10. I have a thing for old dogs, partially ones that are broken and need some extra loving.

Hudson is 10 years old and he is the only dog that I rescued as a puppy.  He is the naughty boy of the crew, and wishes he was an only child. His snuggling skills are perfect so it makes up for his bad behavior.

Molly is 13 and a perfect angel.  I adopted her when she was 8 years old, and I've seen her transform from a terrified, overweight dog, to the most elegant, sweetest little supermodel.

Marvin is 11 and I rescued him when he was 9.  He came from a horrible situation of abuse and neglect, but you wouldn't know it seeing him around me.  I've never had a dog love me so much, he follows me everywhere and is my little bodyguard.

Mi: Favorite grown-up spot in NYC ?

MR: L'Artusi, Mr Chows Tribeca.

Mi: Favorite kid-friendly spot in NYC?

MR: I live in Tribeca so basically everywhere is kid friendly BUT we love The Odeon to eat, and we love to go by the water in battery park city and hang out, picnic style on the grass.

Here are Madison’s top 3 picks from our website:
MR: The perfect Mom shoes for walking around the city!

MR: I would style this with Jeans and a tee, maybe even around my ponytail.

MR: Dior is really in the spotlight right now, and this is such a classic bag at an amazing price.
